Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi
Jo Hisaishi (久 石 譲 Hisaishi Jo 🙂 December 6, 1950, Nagano) – one of the most famous Japanese composers. The real name is Mamoru Fujisawa (藤澤 п). Hisaishi Joe is a pseudonym that phonetically mimics the name of the American composer Quincy Jones.

Hisaishi began playing music at the age of five, taking violin lessons. Hisaishi became interested in musical minimalism, which determined the characteristic sound of his music, while studying at a music college, where he entered in 1969 to study composer. He released his first album, Information, in 1982. In 1983, Hisaishi recommended Hayao Miyazaki to write an accompanying album for the Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds manga. Miyazaki liked the work of the young musician so much that he invited him to write music for the film Nausicaa from the Valley of the Winds. The work on Nausicaa glorified Hisaisi. In gratitude, he worked on all subsequent Miyazaki films.
Hisaishi has received the Japanese Academy Award in the nomination “Best Film Music” for a record number of times. Three of them are awards for music for the films of Takeshi Kitano (Sonatina (1993), Guys Returning (1996), Fireworks (1997). He also wrote soundtracks for Scenes by the Sea for films by Kitano (1992), Kikujiro (1999), Brother of the Yakuza (2001), Dolls (2002) and Yamato (2005).
In addition to creating music for feature films and animated films, Hisaishi works a lot for television and is involved in creating commercials. He also created the music for the 1998 Paralympic Games in Nagano.
A brilliant pianist and keyboard player, Hisaisi has released over 15 solo albums. He repeatedly performed and recorded with the London Philharmonic and Czech Philharmonic Orchestras. Hisaishi is particularly close to the New Japanese Philharmonic Orchestra: in 2004, he became the head of the so-called World Dream Orchestra, a formation within the New Japanese Philharmonic Orchestra intended for concerts that are easy to hear for classical and contemporary music in the summer months .

While studying at the Kunitachi College of Music, Joe Hisaishi launched the composer’s career by creating, playing and producing contemporary music for numerous concerts. In 1982, he released his first solo album, Information. He has received many awards, including five Japanese Academy Award, 48th Newcomer Award from the Japanese Ministry of Education, and others. Today, Joe Hisaishi is known as one of the most influential composers of the Japanese film industry.
